this stage, the dog will be well-prepared for work in the field, capable of handling the challenges presented during shooting days with confidence and precision.
Key Skills Acquired by 18 Months
- Excellent heel work, both on and off the lead, ensuring controlled movement in various environments
- Steadiness to gunshot, remaining calm and composed when exposed to firearm sounds
- Advanced retrieving abilities, successfully locating and delivering game with precision
- High-level obedience, responding promptly and reliably to commands
- Consistent recall, returning promptly to its handler, even amidst distractions
- Proficiency in game retrieval, demonstrating instinct and skill in locating and handling game efficiently
- Undertaken part of the shoot season as an observer/ with the odd retrieve
- Practical experience on shooting days, familiar with the working environment and expectations of fieldwork
- Complete house training, ensuring good behavior in domestic settings
- Effective use of whistle commands and directional cues, responding accurately to guidance in the field
- Fully prepared for the shooting field, ready to work confidently alongside handlers and other dogs

Availability and space permitting, most of our puppies are rehomed at the age of 9 weeks.
